How does Mercateer work with Claude Cowork?

Mercateer runs a public MCP server. You add it once as a custom connector in Claude's settings, and Cowork can then call Mercateer tools to read calls and contacts, check the schedule, quote from your price book, and book appointments, no terminal required.

Does Cowork need the terminal?

No. Cowork connects to Mercateer through the custom-connector settings, so you can pull calls, quote jobs, and book appointments from the desktop app without touching a terminal.

Which Mercateer plan do I need?

API and MCP access is included on the Crew and Fleet plans. You can start building free to set up your agent, then upgrade to connect Claude Cowork.

Are there rate limits?

Yes. API requests are rate-limited per caller (about 60 requests per minute per API key or connected agent). If you exceed the limit you get an RFC 9457 problem response with a Retry-After header, so the agent can back off and retry.

Can I give an agent read-only access?

Read-only scoping works through API keys, which each carry an explicit scope list, so you can issue a read-only key for lookups and a separate read-write key for agents that book jobs or update contacts. Note that the OAuth sign-in these agents use grants the agent the same full account access you have in the dashboard, so to keep an agent read-only you would connect it with a scoped API key rather than OAuth. Either way, actions that spend money or change live settings still pause for your confirmation.

What happens to my data?

Your calls, contacts, and pricing stay in your Mercateer organization. Agents act through scoped OAuth tokens or API keys, every request is logged, and actions that spend money or change live settings require your confirmation. Nothing is used to train a shared model.

What is Claude Cowork?

Open Claude's connector settings

In Claude (Pro or Max), go to Settings, then Connectors. On Team or Enterprise, an owner adds the connector once under Organization settings, then Connectors.

Add the Mercateer MCP server

Click Add custom connector and paste the Mercateer MCP URL below.

Authorize and enable

Sign in to Mercateer through the OAuth screen and approve access, then enable the Mercateer connector for your Cowork session. There are no API keys to paste.

Hand Cowork a task

Describe the outcome, like "pull this week's missed calls and book follow-ups", and Cowork chains the Mercateer tools to finish it, pausing for approval on anything that spends money or changes a live setting.
